Enhancing Climate Change mitigation, adaptation and resilience
Let’s plant 5 million trees in the next three years to combat climate change at a local and global scale. Uganda’s forest cover reduced from over 4.5million hectares in 1990 to less than 2million in 2015 (NEMA, 2016/2017, p. 122), and we are feeling the impact.
Our biggest population as a country primarily depends on subsistence agriculture which is rain fed hence largely affected by climate change. The impacts are already being felt as a result of seasonal variability, extreme weather events among others. The campaign will therefore aim at planting 5 million trees to sequester carbon and combat climate change.
